Everett M. Walker

Everett Walker

Everett M Walker passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on May 22, 2017 at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

Everett was born October 21, 1943 in Providence, Rhode Island to Ralph and Ethel Walker. He and his older brother, Curtis, spent their childhood making mischief in Rhode Island until they moved all the way to the west coast. Settling in Salem, OR, Everett’s first job was as a stock boy at a local grocery store; he would later work for such grocery juggernauts as Del Monte, Nabisco, and Darigold. He graduated from South Salem High School in 1961.

Everett proudly served his country for six years as a member of the Army National Guard, serving until 1971. That very same year, he married Donna Sue Cameron and adopted her son, David. Three years later the couple welcomed their only daughter Charity Elizabeth into the world. The family moved to Yakima, WA in 1977, into the house they had built in Terrace Heights.

Everett’s first car was a 1951 Chevrolet, beginning a lifelong passion. He joined the Vintiques Club in 1981, and eventually the Chevelles and El Caminos Forever Car Club, and was an enthusiastically active member of both to his last day. He loved his cars (both miniature and full-sized), his family, his friends, and his perfectly maintained lawn.

He cherished his 1930 Ford Model-A, his 1970 Chevy El Camino SS, and his 1971 Chevy Chevelle, spending his free time taking them to rod runs and working on them in his shop.

Everett was known for his infectious laugh and his epic stories, as well as his hilarious (if racy) jokes that always hit the mark. He leaves behind his brother Curtis (Sheri) Walker of Newburg, OR; son David Walker of Portland, OR; daughter Charity (Chris) Caprile; his grandchildren Charles Walker, Nathaniel and Lauren Caprile, and Madison Winchell; and countless other family members and devoted friends. He will be greatly missed.

Please join family and friends for a celebration of life at Cascade Gardens at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017. Rainier Memorial Center is entrusted with arrangements.
