Donald Keefer

Donald W. Keefer, 87, of Yakima, died Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the Cottage in the Meadow.

He was born in Yakima on June 29, 1929, and was the eldest of three children born to Margaret and Oscar Keefer.

He married Ann Timpke on August 18, 1957, and they had four sons, Don, Glen, Ron, and Ken. Later, Don and Ann helped to raise three of their grandchildren.

Don attended Yakima High School and later joined the Army and served in Korea. He worked at Hanford for 25 years and later worked for the City of Yakima for 25 years.

Don enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing and camping. He also enjoyed movies and watching baseball on television.

 

Don is survived by his sons, Don W Keefer (Hannah) of Tacoma, WA, Glen R Keefer (Irene), Ronald R Keefer (Donna) and Kenneth W Keefer, all of Yakima; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; his sister, Louise Lewis of Richland, sister-in-law, Audrey J Latte (Glenn) of Milwaukie, OR brother-in-law, Teunis Timpke of Yakima; nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Ann, brother, Robert Keefer, grandson, Craig Keefer, and brother-in-law, Glenn Timpke.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held in the Spring.
